Lying at the north of capital, Kathmandu, Jamacho stands at altitude of 2130m above the sea level. Nice view, cool breeze of air topped with Mountain View and lullaby of birds is what makes Jamacho a perfect meditative spot. Besides re-energizing your brain from meditation, you can involve in activities like Photography, sightseeing, bird watching standing here in Jamacho peak. Jamacho is not all natures’ wonderland. But Jamacho actually carries deep religious value to it, especially for Buddhism follower. Jamacho hill is a small Buddhist shrine. Small monastery of Padmasambhav lies in this hill.

Religious beliefs

Adding to religious significance, hill is the home to temples of Nagraj (king of all snakes) and Nagrani(Queen of all snakes). These both temple lies at the Nagaidada which is short hike down of the hill. And in the east side, there is rows of Gods and Goddesses symbolizing Buddhism. So, Jamacho is this blend of nature and culture. Breathtaking view of mountains including Mt.Jugal, Ganesh, Langtang and Everest is all possible in this hiking. Actual hiking is just 3-4 hours uphill and 2-3 hours downhill. This all depends on well how fit you are.

Itinerary Information

But don’t you worry, this is relatively short hiking, weather is not challenging and we are here to accompany on your hiking. Hiking starts after you will be dropped to Balaju Bypass. Then, you will walk to Fulbari gate, you will see a check post, an army check post. In Nepal, conservation areas are strictly protected by army men. As, Jamacho comes under Shivapuri National Park, you will need permit to do hiking and other activities inside the park. Upon getting the permit, you will hike uphill for 2-3 hours that will be almost 5 km until Jamacho Peak. You will spend some time in the peak, doing some meditation and practicing some yoga poses, taking photographs and will hike back to the check post and walk to Balaju Bypass. Then from there, you will be dropped to the original destination.

  • Fulbarigate-Raniban-Pachali Bhairav-Bhagwan Bich Pau- Jamacho
  • Jamacho- Nagaidada-Helipad-Fulbarigate
