Day 12

Departure

This whole thrilling adventurous rafting experience comes to an end as we farewell each other, but there is a promise to keep that we shall meet again.

Have a nice flight!

What occurs on a normal Nepal rafting trip?

Since our start, our mission has been to assist individuals in having "the finest outdoor experience of their lives." Every day on the river provides something new, whether it's a 12-day trip through the rapids, spotting animals, climbing to old petroglyphs, or staying up late to watch the stars. There are, however, certain things you can bank on. What to Expect During Your Adventures, everything from breakfast to restrooms is included in Whitewater Vacation.

Is prior experience required?

No, however you should be prepared to participate in an outdoor activity for a few hours to a whole day. The Trishuli River requires previous rafting expertise.

Is the tour in Nepal entirely whitewater?

No. Most rivers have "pool and drop," with exhilarating whitewater interspersed with intervals of quiet, tranquil float time, enabling you to relax and take in the scenery. The trip itself is a lot of fun, ranging from a relaxing Class I float through high-intensity Class IV and V whitewater. However, we only spend a few hours in the rafts throughout the long, lingering days. The stations along the journey have been chosen to give good opportunity for walking, hiking, birdwatching, animal viewing, and simply taking in the region's enchantment and magnificence.

What kind of boat am I going to be on? Is it expected of me to paddle?

For your whitewater rafting adventure, Raconteur Adventure provides a variety of options. (On certain rivers, not all boat options are available.) On a paddle raft, you're the engine: everyone paddles as the guide yells directions ( 6 -8 paddlers). Your guide steers the oar raft with long oars as you relax and enjoy the journey ( 6-8 passengers). You assist your guide with an oar raft with paddle assist, which is often utilized on Class IV-V whitewater (4-6 paddlers). In an inflatable kayak, it's just you and the water, which is a fantastic alternative in low- to mid-intensity rapids on many of the rivers we paddle. Dories have passenger seats and mahogany rails and trim, and they can travel more faster down a river than rafts (2-4 passengers).

Can I bring my little children on a Nepal rafting trip?

Raconteur Adventure offers family rafting vacations to youngsters as young as four years old. We want your children to enjoy the time of their life, and we want you to be at ease and able to experience their joy. While you watch your youngster grow confidence and flourish in the natural environment, we take care of the work and sweat the minutiae.

Is it necessary for me to be able to swim?

You do not need to know how to swim on most trips; swimming is not required, and you will be wearing a life jacket. We do not suggest swimming in whitewater.
Most tours do not need you to be able to swim. Our Coast Guard-approved Personal Flotation Devices are required for all afloat adventure Nepal tourists (aka PFDs or life jackets). The PFD is meant to float you face up in the water if you fall out of your boat. However, before you board your boat, our guides will give you a thorough safety briefing and demonstrate how to correctly "swim" a rapid. Please be aware that our PFDs are rated to fit people weighing no more than 260 pounds and having a chest size of no more than 52 inches. We are used to working with people of different ages and capacities.

What should I bring with me and wear on the river?

Our specialist adventure advisors, who have completed approximately 500 river excursions between them, have created precise packing lists for each trip we offer in consultation with our guides and operations managers. These documents cover everything from footwear (if you want to buy shoes for your trip, make sure to get them long enough in advance and break them in until they're comfortable) to what to wear on the boat and at camp, as well as what personal goods are required (e.g. water bottle & sun protection). The options for what to carry on your rafting vacation and what to wear on the river are as varied as the routes themselves. Your gear will be determined by the time of year, water temperature, and weather conditions on the day of your trip.

Is it okay for me to bring my camera or video camera?

Certainly! On all of our multi-day rafting trips, we offer each guest with a small waterproof bag to carry their camera and other essentials with them during the day. It is fixed in a convenient location on the raft. While our bags are waterproof, you may want to put your camera in a zip-loc plastic bag or a specific waterproof camera cover to keep it safe. A tiny towel or piece of clothes can also be used to cushion it. Sand can be a problem, so clean your camera with tissue, a brush, and lens paper every night. We also suggest adding a rider to your homeowner's insurance to cover your camera—especially if it's high-end gear.

If you're bringing a digital camera, remember to pack extra memory cards, batteries, and any other accessories you'll need. Waterproof disposable cameras are also a fun choice.

What are the credentials of the guides?

Nepal guides distinguish us! They are our organization's single most praised component. They appreciate rivers and natural habitats as much as we do. They are dependable, responsible, and competent, and they are dedicated to improving your safety. All are CPR and First Aid certified, and many have received Wilderness First Responder, Swift Water Rescue, and Leave No Trace certifications. They are also familiar with their surroundings. The differences between a beaver tail cactus and a barrel cactus, a pictograph and a petroglyph, as well as the river's moods and the best approach to tackle Crystal Rapid in a heavy spring flow They also know people.
They've come because they want to learn and share with you. We keep the finest guest-to-guide ratio in the industry: one guide for every four guests, so that our visitors may get the most out of the guides' talents and personality. From one to four, we emphasize the importance of connections just as much as whitewater.

Should I give my guide a tip?

Guests frequently inquire about whether and how much gratuities are appropriate. If you believe your guides made your trip extra exceptional, consider leaving a tip with the trip leader, which will be split among the staff. Anything between "Thank you" and 10% of the total trip cost is considered a general tipping guideline. If you wish to tip, carry a personal check or cash with you because ATMs are few in the wilderness.

How about the bathroom?

While the notion of a river journey appeals to the majority of people, many feel hesitant or constrained due to modesty or doubt. Perhaps a few facts can put your mind at ease (forgive the pun). There are restrooms or outhouses at the put-in and/or take-out locations on most of our one-day rafting trips. We employ a "porta-potty" system for multi-day rafting excursions, which is put up each afternoon at camp in a quiet place to ensure privacy. It functions as a toilet without running water and is open from the moment you arrive at camp in the afternoon until you depart in the morning.

What about the food?

On our rafting adventures, we offer nutritious and tasty meals that include fresh fruits and vegetables throughout your voyage. Our meals showcase excellent camp cuisine in a natural setting. Wake up to freshly prepared pancakes, omelets, or eggs, as well as tuna fish, meat, juice, and lots of freshly poured coffee and tea. At lunch, satiate your hunger with a delectable array of cold cuts and cheese on various breads, hummus and vegetables in soft pitas, or savory taco salad wraps. Our mentors' culinary abilities definitely show at the dinner table. While you wait for your veggie or non-vegetarian cuisine, you can nibble on hors d'oeuvres. Expect to eat just as well – if not better – than you would at home, with none of the hassle.

Can you meet my unique dietary requirements?

If you let us know ahead of time, we can accommodate vegetarian or vegan choices, food allergies, and other specific dietary requirements.

Is travel insurance required?

Although every effort is taken to ensure that everyone has a safe trip, we highly advise that you acquire a short-term traveler's coverage to protect yourself, your valuables, and your vacation. In most circumstances, a trip cancellation insurance will reimburse your non-refundable fees if you have to cancel your trip at the last minute due to illness or accident. Participants should be aware that if they become ill or injured while on a river excursion, evacuation can be time-consuming, difficult, and expensive. Personal items and photographs are carried fully at the risk of the owner, and drifting experiences Nepal assumes no liability for lost, damaged, delayed, or stolen stuff.
