What exactly is trekking or walking vacations?

Trekking is a multi-day adventure that takes you to a specific location. Trekking in Nepal entails going over the Himalayas and lush landscapes.

How can we acclimate at such a high altitude?

There are various options available to you. Raconteur Adventure uses some of the most straightforward methods for acclimatisation. Our hiking approach is to travel high and sleep low. Another option is to take a rest and acclimatisation day, during which you can go for a stroll to increase your acclimatisation level. It is the most crucial component. Warm soups and dishes cooked with soup keep you warm and invigorated.

So, what about sun protection?

Because of the cold and hot combination, the sun is more direct and forceful at high altitudes. This might cause skin irritation and eye damage. As a result, pack sunscreen and UV-ray protection sunglasses.

What happens if I acquire altitude sickness or have an injury while trekking?

The subject of high altitude illness is frequently asked. And it is, in fact, critical to be aware of this issue. Our guide administers first aid, and if an emergency arises and there is no other route out of the medical facility, helicopter evacuation is the only option. However, you must be aware that this is an emergency. Trekking down or taking a day off might be good alternatives.

Is it safe for single female tourists to travel to the Himalayas?

We want to reassure you that Nepal and Himalayan hiking are safe for female visitors. Our field crew knows how to make single female visitors feel comfortable and confident while trekking.

What should I bring on my hiking trip?

The gear you'll need depends on the type of hiking you'll be doing. Warm clothing, a windproof and down jacket, and other items are required for mountain trekking. When walking at a lower altitude, more miniature kit is necessary. Please refer to our equipment list.

What kind of footwear is suggested?

Trekking requires comfortable footwear with a sturdy sole and warm woolen socks. Bring extra socks if you're going to an alpine location. You may bring your slippers and change at the lodge.

How much can a porter transport?

Porters often carry 15-20 kg of luggage on treks. In altitude trekking, it might be much more so. Avoid bringing superfluous items and store them at the hotel's storage or locker.

Should I tip my porter and guide?

Tipping is not required, although it is customary. It makes life easier for guides and porters.

What amount of cash should I bring?

On fully inclusive vacations, we offer meals and lodging and any transportation services. However, if the journey is prolonged due to your desire or an unavoidable circumstance, you must pay the additional fee. It is also simple for you to obtain items not included in our price. So be sure to bring some cash.

What communication methods are available along the hiking trail?

Nowadays, mobile phone service is available in many places in Nepal. Aside from that, internet WIFI connections are becoming more widespread across the country. As a result, communication services are readily available on most hiking routes.

Should I pay extra fees as a lone traveler?

Even travelling alone, you should not be charged any additional fees. However, the costs of travelling alone vs going in a group are different.

Is it possible to obtain a refund if I don't complete the trek?

There are several reasons for not completing the journey. In this case, Nepal Kameleon Holidays cannot issue a refund because the accommodation and other services have already been reserved. However, in rare circumstances, the firm may be able to provide an alternate vacation but not a refund.

Insurance for Travel

Trekking is an exciting trip that requires insurance. You do not need it if you are walking at a lower height, below 3000 meters. Make sure the altitude is correct. Travel insurance assists you in being evacuated in an emergency and covers medical expenses.

What are our dining options?

The dinners are also served at the tea house. They have an extensive menu that includes traditional Nepali dishes and European cuisine.

Where will we get our drinking water?

Mineral water bottles may be purchased in various locations across the hiking regions. Using a purification pill or liquid, you can consume water from natural sources.

What is hiking camping?

The hiking crew has gone through extensive preparation. Along with you, there will be kitchen workers and porters who will serve your meals and sleep in tents.

Is a hiking or walking vacation right for me?

You should go trekking. You will discover suitable tours whether you like ambitious or less adventurous treks.

Should I be forced to use a guide? Can't I use my prior expertise to assist me?

The hiking track passes through a remote part of the countryside. It might be a forest or grassland wilderness. Trekking with a guide allows you to learn from their knowledge and gives you the confidence to hike confidently. In the event of an emergency, your guide will help you. You'll need a translator and a guide at all times to speak with the locals and experience their lives. Trekking is always exciting.

Who is capable of trekking?

Everyone may go and find the right bundle for them. Your interest and budget are both required.

Is there a maximum age restriction for Himalayan trekking?

There are no age limitations for hiking. Lower-altitude areas are ideal for family vacations. Even toddlers and the elderly may participate in high-altitude treks such as the Everest base camp trek. People have been doing this for almost 70 years, according to documents. Don't be concerned about your age...just be confident.

What about trekking's difficulty?

Trekking is thrilling. However, there are hikes that are simple, moderate, and adventurous. The difficulty level varies depending on the journey.

Is prior walking experience required?

Previous trekking experience is extremely beneficial, particularly when walking at high/alpine altitudes. However, it is not required. Make sure you're capable.

Should I overpack for my trip?

Obviously not. The equipment required varies depending on the excursion. Higher altitude trips necessitate more packing, whilst lower altitude treks require less. The complete details may be found on the equipment checklist.

Is it necessary for me to get insurance? Where can I get an insurance policy?

Trekking and other adventurous activities need the purchase of travel insurance. When you go over 2700 meters, high altitude symptoms begin to appear. There are no facilitated hospitals in the outlying countryside that can care for emergency circumstances. Travel insurance allows you to hike with confidence, and if an emergency evacuation is required, Heli rescue is needed. You should obtain insurance for your hiking destination's high altitude. You may go without insurance if you're going on city excursions or lower-altitude treks. We can assist you with insurance in Nepal.

In Nepal, when is the ideal time to go trekking?

Spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) are the ideal seasons for hiking in Nepal's Himalayas (September to November). During these seasons, the weather clears. Aside from that, Nepal boasts a variety of excellent places for travel during the monsoon and winter seasons. Monsoon trekking is possible in the Dolpo and Upper Mustang regions. Winter hikes in Annapurna, Manaslu, and other portions of the Himalayas are suitable.

Are TIMS and permissions required for trekking?

Yes, in general. The majority of trekking takes place in National Parks or Conservation Areas. You must provide permission to get access. The hikers' identity is the TIMS card, which is also obligatory. Permits are not required if the location is not a protected area. In some areas, restricted areas licenses are needed, such as Dolpo and Upper Mustang.

What is the average length of the treks?

Trekking tours typically last 2-4 weeks, including arrival and departure days. Treks at higher elevations are more extended, whereas treks at lower elevations are shorter.

What should our daily walking time be?

You must walk for 4-6 hours each day on the trekking. However, you will need to walk for around 10 hours on certain days. For example, on the day of crossing the Thorong La Pass, the day of reaching Everest base camp, or the day of trekking Kalapatthar. You walk 5-15 kilometres every day depending on the path and altitude.

What kind of accommodations are available?

The majority of the trekking paths include simple lodgings, usually known as tea houses. They're warm and flexible.

So, what exactly is teahouse trekking?

Teahouse hiking takes place at a lodge. Staying in local lodges and eating there is the most typical method of modern trekking.

What about cancellation policy for the tour?

If you need to cancel your trip, you must mail us and obtain the company's acknowledgement. The corporation will then complete it after subtracting the cancellation fee.

20 percent of the total trip cost in Nepal

50 percent of the total trip cost outside of Nepal

You must notify us a month in advance of your Tibet and Bhutan tour cancellation. You must notify us 10 days prior to the trip date if you wish to cancel your Nepal trip.

Khopra Trek Preparation

It is necessary to prepare before any trek in Nepal, no matter the duration. It is better to do a short hike in your homeland to better prepare your body for the tour. Your trek time and physical fitness matter, but documentation is of the absolute essence. For trekking in Annapurna, you will be requiring TIMS and ACAP. TIMS is a Trekking Information Management System, and ACAP is Annapurna Conservation Area Permit.  Khayer Lake Trek is a modern trek that demands less from your body.

Tour Location

FAQs
