Shey Phoksundo Lake Trek, Itinerary Overview

Our trek commences with driving from Kathmandu to Rukum which is a 25-hour drive. We then will drive to Raadi Byauja in 4 wheeler jeep and stay overnight there. Then, the trekking journey starts as we trek to Siaudeni village and then to Tripurakot on the following day. Our trek continues driving from Supani to Sulighad. We then travel to Kageni from Sulighad for an overnight stay. Then we reach Samjhana Hotel from Kageni and Shey Phoksundo Lake from Samjhana Hotel. We then trek to Chhekpa from the lake. From Chhekpa, we will hike to Sulighad and drive to Jhufal. From Jhufal, we fly to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu. There are some best times to do the Shey-Phoksundo trek.

Best Season for Shey Phoksundo Trek

Kathmandu Arrival

As you approach Nepal from the sky, mind settling view of the mountain range unravels in front of you. Raconteur Adventure welcomes you to the airport and will drive you to your hotel. Kathmandu Sightseeing

We will engage in a delightful sightseeing experience today. We will drive you to Kathmandu Durbar Square, an open medieval museum with many temples, monuments and palaces. After enjoying Kathmandu Durbar Square, we will go to Boudhanath, the largest dome-shaped stupa in south Asia. After circling the stupa three times, we will gather for lunch at rooftop restaurant the premises of Boudhanath and drive to Pashupatinath in the evening to view and experience the energy of Lord Shiva. Overnight in the same Hotel in Kathmandu.

Drive to Rukum

Drive to Aathbishkot

Upon reaching Rukum, we will again transfer to a four-wheeler SUV and drive to Raadi Byauja(Aathbishkot), the border of Rukum and Jajarkot. Overnight in Aathbishkot.

Day 05

Drive and Trek to Khadang

After breakfast at Aathbishkot, we drive a jeep to Gotamkot. From Gotamkot, you can reach Jajarkot via Jeep track through Bheri River bank. After getting to Gotamkot, the last jeep station here, we hike to Rukum crossing the Bheri River again. Then again, we will catch another jeep which takes us to the Dolpa district. We will stop in our trail head at Khadang. Our hike starts from Khadang to reach the village of Siaudeni within 3-3.5 hours. Overnight in Siaudeni village.

Trek to Kageni

We start trekking to Tripurakot, which is 04 hours trek. We will have lunch at Tripurakot and cross the Bheri River to reach Supani. After getting Supani, we will drive to Sulighad in a local jeep. From Sulighad, we will start trekking to acquire the fantastic village of Kageni for an Overnight stay.

Trek to Samjhana Hotel

After refreshment and heavy breakfast at Kageni, we trek through the beautiful village of Shangta, Chhekpa, to have lunch in another not less delightful village of Raichi. After lunch, we walk to Samjhana Hotel, which is the base camp of Shey Phoksundo Lake. In Samjhana Hotel, we will stay overnight.

Trek to Shey Phoksundo Lake

Day eight is the primary day of this fulfilling Shey Phoksundo Lake Trek. We will reach Shey Phoksundo Lake today. The early hike is easy and gets difficult after crossing the Jharana hotel. You have to climb a big hill which will take more than 03 hours but directly leading to the heavenly lake at an altitude of 3589m. Shey Phoksundo to Chhekpa

Upon having breakfast at the hotel in Shey Phoksundo, we will enjoy the morning view of the super beautiful Shey Phoksundo Lake. Then we will trek down to Chhekpa villae. We will have lunch at Raichi village after a trek of 4.5 hours from Chhekpa. After some rest, we will continue hiking to Chhekpa village for an Overnight Stay.

Chhekpa to Sulighad and drive to Jhufal

After breakfast at Chhekpa, we will hike to Sulighad, and from Sulighad, we will drive to Dolpa, Jhufal, in a local jeep. We will stay at a hotel in Jhufal. The trek ends; relax your muscles and have fun.

Day 11

Flight from Jhufal to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu

After breakfast at Jhufal, we will catch the flight to Nepalgunj in the early morning and fly again to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj. Raconteur Adventure will host a farewell dinner for you to hear your stories and reviews.

Am I going to get altitude sickness at shey Phoksundo Lake?

Well, the Shey Phoksundo trek is over 3500 m in elevation. There are possibilities of having altitude sickness. It usually happens at this altitude above 3500m. We have planned an itinerary that gives you time to acclimatise the Trail for this prevention.

Is the water of Shey Phoksundo safe to drink?

You are not allowed to drink water directly from the lake or any tap; besides, you can use water purifier tablets or Just boiled water.

What about the first aid and medication kits?

Yes, we provide first aid on the trek, and we always carry a first aid kit.

Do I have to bring tents and mattress with me?

Hotels and tea houses are available, so you do not need to bring them.

What happens if emergency evacuation is required?

Suppose you get into any trouble. We will collect your travel insurance policies and details before your trip. Our team will coordinate with your insurance company and provide you with the evacuation helicopter.

How many hours do we walk each day?

How many hours do we walk each day?
