Rara Lake is simply the queen of all lakes in Nepal. This largest lake is all beautifully calm with colors changing water in different settings of the day. Lake is spread around 8 square kilometers on the surface and the total perimeter of the lake is 9 kilometers. Rara Lake has a total length of 5 kilometers and the breadth it shares is 2 kilometers. The maximum depth of the Lake is 167 meters.

Reaching Rara Lake

Rara is Ramsar listed lake and trekking takes you on to journey through the local lifestyle, food culture, and language of the Jumla district. Jumla is also the home to Marsi Chamal (Rice) which is a paddy variety that is grown at the highest altitude in the world.

Driving

Driving to Rara is all rewarding as you will reach Surkhet, Nepalgunj, or Jumla, and is one of the easy ways to reach the lake. After getting out of the vehicle, you can walk for just 30 minutes to reach Rara. If you wish to fly to Rara, you can book a flight for Nepalgunj to Talcha from Kathmandu.

Rara is beautiful, is less crowded and this pristine lake changes its color as different times of the day pass on.
