Kathmandu Arrival

Representative of Raconteur Adventure welcomes you at TIA, Kathmandu. We will guide you through the cultural shock you may encounter after you drive here to Kathmandu. Day 02

Kathmandu Exploration

On our second day of the itinerary, we will explore different facets of Kathmandu. Kathmandu serves the ideal temperature for all; no winter and summer is extreme. On this day, we will explore various cultural and religious sites, including Changunarayan, Swoyambhunath and others. There are different ways to explore Kathmandu, but as Kathmandu is the city of temples, it is very natural to explore the religious and cultural sites here. You can spend your evening at Thamel or Pashupatinath. In Thamel, you can hit local nightclubs and dance to DJ music. In contrast, in Pashupatinath, you can sit at the bank of the holy river, “Bagmati”, and observe the cremation ceremony of the Hindus. Overnight at star category hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi(1,460m./4,790ft.)

Syabrubesi is the destination for the day and the starting point of the trek. It is just 07 hours drive to reach Syabrubesi from the capital Kathmandu. We will drive in SUVs, and the accompanying ride is the scenic view of Annapurna mountain in the west, to Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Langtang peak ahead. The road goes up, climbing the hills over the ridges. Before reaching the Langtang National Park, we will drive through bustling Trishuli town and then move to Dhunche and national park. From Dhunche, it is one hour downhill to Syabrubesi. Overnight at lodge in Syabrubesi.

Day 04

Trekking from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel(2,380m)

Day 04 is the official day of the trek. We will cross the Bhotekoshi, which is famous as, “Tibet River” as this river flows from near Tibet. We will steadily climb through tropical and sub-tropical forests to join the trail from Syabrubesi. Then, from there, we will climb through silent oak and rhododendron forests. The journey is rewarding, and there are various flora and fauna. We will reach Lama Hotel, following the trail through the woods. The course is steep, and the satisfaction is to the fullest. Overnight at a comfortable lodge at Lama Hotel.

Day 05

Trekking from Lama Hotel to Mundu(3,550m/11,646ft.)

We will climb through the forest, absorbing the serenity of Langtang Lirung mountain from the forest. Once we reach Ghoda Tabela at 3000m./9842ft, the trail opens with a view of mountains from all sides. As we get Ghore Tabel, you will see an army check post at the same place once a Tibetan settlement project. There is no permanent settlement of people here. From the check post, the trail continues to valley with a slight ascend. As we continue our hike, we will encounter thin settlements of natives who use the green pasture land for grazing their livestock in the summer. Yak like to feed around here.

Then, as you pass along the trail, you will see changed Langtang. The whole set of human civilization was hard hit in the 2015 earthquake. Langtang is recovering, and you will feel you are contributing to people’s lives here.

You will reach Mundu after 30 minutes hike. Mundu still has old settlements with old houses and cultural attractions. As you will see these old houses, you will have the idea of old Langtang. After the earthquake, modern concrete made hotels and lodges serve you the need for rest and food. Overnight at a lodge in Mundu.

Day 06

Trek to Kyangjin Gompa(3,800m./12,467ft.)

On day six of the trek, we will trek to Kyangjin Gompa, passing through yak pastures in the beginning and through streams, valleys and settlements. We will reach Kyangjin, crossing streams and moraines. In Kyangjin, you will see a small monastery, a cheese factory, and the ideal place to rest and have delicious lunch. As we will reach Kyangjn Gompa during daylight, you have time for exploring the site. You can hike to explore Langshisha Kharka if you feel energetic Overnight at the tea house at Kyangjin Gompa.

Rest and exploration day at Kyangjin/ Climb to Kyangji RI(4,850m, 15,912ft.)

Trek to Lama Hotel

On the eighth day, we will retrace the trekking trail. We will reach Mundu village via Langtang river. From Mundu village we will reach Ghoda Tabela. As descend will be faster than ascend, we will continue our downhill trek to Lama hotel again from lunch at Ghora Tabela. Overnight at a lodge at Lama Hotel.

Am I going to get altitude sickness at Langtang trek?

Well, the Langtang trek is over 3500 m in elevation. There are possibilities of having altitude sickness. it usually happens at this altitude above 3500m. For this prevention, we have planned an itinerary that gives you time to acclimatize the Trail.

Is the water of Langtang safe to drink?

No, you are not allowed to drink water directly from the lake or any tap, besides you can use water purifier tablets or just boiled water.

Kathmandu Arrival

Representative of Raconteur Adventure welcomes you at TIA, Kathmandu. We will guide you through the cultural shock you may encounter after you drive here to Kathmandu. We will help you to settle in one of the star category hotels in Kathmandu. You can call it a day and spend the rest of the time on your own, or you can roam around the gullies of Thamel to experience the colour and music of Kathmandu. You can even engage in sightseeing of cultural and religious sites like Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and Kathmandu Durbar Squares. Overnight at star category hotels in Kathmandu.

Day 02

Kathmandu Exploration

On our second day of the itinerary, we will explore different facets of Kathmandu. Kathmandu serves the ideal temperature for all; no winter and summer is extreme. On this day, we will explore various cultural and religious sites, including Changunarayan, Swoyambhunath and others. There are different ways to explore Kathmandu, but as Kathmandu is the city of temples, it is very natural to explore the religious and cultural sites here. You can spend your evening at Thamel or Pashupatinath. In Thamel, you can hit local nightclubs and dance to DJ music. In contrast, in Pashupatinath, you can sit at the bank of the holy river, “Bagmati”, and observe the cremation ceremony of the Hindus. Overnight at star category hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi(1,460m./4,790ft.)

Syabrubesi is the destination for the day and the starting point of the trek. It is just 07 hours drive to reach Syabrubesi from the capital Kathmandu. We will drive in SUVs, and the accompanying ride is the scenic view of Annapurna mountain in the west, to Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Langtang peak ahead. The road goes up, climbing the hills over the ridges. Before reaching the Langtang National Park, we will drive through bustling Trishuli town and then move to Dhunche and national park. From Dhunche, it is one hour downhill to Syabrubesi. Overnight at lodge in Syabrubesi.

Day 04

Trekking from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel(2,380m)

Day 04 is the official day of the trek. We will cross the Bhotekoshi, which is famous as, “Tibet River” as this river flows from near Tibet. We will steadily climb through tropical and sub-tropical forests to join the trail from Syabrubesi. Then, from there, we will climb through silent oak and rhododendron forests. The journey is rewarding, and there are various flora and fauna. We will reach Lama Hotel, following the trail through the woods. The course is steep, and the satisfaction is to the fullest. Overnight at a comfortable lodge at Lama Hotel.

Day 05

Trekking from Lama Hotel to Mundu(3,550m/11,646ft.)

We will climb through the forest, absorbing the serenity of Langtang Lirung mountain from the forest. Once we reach Ghoda Tabela at 3000m./9842ft, the trail opens with a view of mountains from all sides. As we get Ghore Tabel, you will see an army check post at the same place once a Tibetan settlement project. There is no permanent settlement of people here. From the check post, the trail continues to valley with a slight ascend. As we continue our hike, we will encounter thin settlements of natives who use the green pasture land for grazing their livestock in the summer. Yak like to feed around here.

Then, as you pass along the trail, you will see changed Langtang. The whole set of human civilization was hard hit in the 2015 earthquake. Langtang is recovering, and you will feel you are contributing to people’s lives here.

You will reach Mundu after 30 minutes hike. Mundu still has old settlements with old houses and cultural attractions. As you will see these old houses, you will have the idea of old Langtang. After the earthquake, modern concrete made hotels and lodges serve you the need for rest and food. Overnight at a lodge in Mundu.

Day 06

Trek to Kyangjin Gompa(3,800m./12,467ft.)

On day six of the trek, we will trek to Kyangjin Gompa, passing through yak pastures in the beginning and through streams, valleys and settlements. We will reach Kyangjin, crossing streams and moraines. In Kyangjin, you will see a small monastery, a cheese factory, and the ideal place to rest and have delicious lunch. As we will reach Kyangjn Gompa during daylight, you have time for exploring the site. You can hike to explore Langshisha Kharka if you feel energetic Overnight at the tea house at Kyangjin Gompa.

Rest and exploration day at Kyangjin/ Climb to Kyangji RI(4,850m, 15,912ft.)

On this very day seven of the trek, we will see and experience the beauty of old monasteries, taste of local produce, hike to the moraines to indulge in this masterful beauty of nature and humans. As you hike up the moraines, a mind-blowing view of ice faces and spectacular tumbling Langtang Lirung glacier’s unfolds in front of you. Overnight at Tea House at Kyangjin.

Day 08

Trek to Lama Hotel

On the eighth day, we will retrace the trekking trail. We will reach Mundu village via Langtang river. From Mundu village we will reach Ghoda Tabela. As descend will be faster than ascend, we will continue our downhill trek to Lama hotel again from lunch at Ghora Tabela. Overnight at a lodge at Lama Hotel.

Trek to Syabru Besi from Lama Hotel.

After breakfast at Syabri Besi, we will retrace the route to Syabru Besi. Forests and hills accompany the hike. You can take an alternate route from Rimche to Syabru Besi via Sherpa Gaun. This alternate route is longer. Overnight at Syabru Besi in the lodge.

Am I going to get altitude sickness at Langtang trek?

Well, the Langtang trek is over 3500 m in elevation. There are possibilities of having altitude sickness. it usually happens at this altitude above 3500m. For this prevention, we have planned an itinerary that gives you time to acclimatize the Trail.

Is the water of Langtang safe to drink?

No, you are not allowed to drink water directly from the lake or any tap, besides you can use water purifier tablets or just boiled water.

What about the first aid and medication kits?

Yes, we give first aid at the trek, we always take the first aid kit with us.

Do I have to bring tents and mattress with me?

No, as there are Hotels and tea Houses, you don't need to bring them.

What happens if emergency evacuation is required?

Suppose you get into any trouble. We will collect your travel insurance policies and details before your trip. We will coordinate with your insurance company and provide you with the evacuation helicopter.

Can we do the Langtang Trek without the assistance of a guide?

Yes, you may make the Langtang trip without the assistance of a guide. However, the walking paths are somewhat perplexing, with multiple detours and deep woodlands. This creates an issue for single travellers. On the journey, you may become disoriented at times.

Due to the scarcity of teahouses in the Langtang region, getting a room may not be accessible during peak season. The guide will assist you in booking a room in the teahouse before your arrival.

Can we change the schedule for the Langtang Trek 7 Days?

How tough is it to complete the Langtang Trek?

This is one of the most commonly requested questions we receive. First and foremost, you should be aware of your current level of physical fitness. How far can you walk in a day?

Langtang Trip is a somewhat strenuous trek. You do not need any prior trekking experience or a first-time trekker. You should be able to walk 5-6 hours every day on average for the Langtang Trek 7 Days.

It might be not easy on day 7 to reach the highest peak of Kyanjin Ri (4500m) because we have to get up early to avoid the chilly wind. When you get to Kyanjin Ri, you will be surprised by the sunrise and the view of Langtang Lirung and the magnificent glaciers. If you finish this day, the next day's walk down around the Langtang Region is relatively simple.

Suppose you have the desire and determination to accomplish the Langtang Valley Trek. Then it's not all that tough. Depending on your route, the guide will prescribe a different walking pace between treks. Our experienced guide will assist you in making your tour more physically accessible.

What is the highest height we can reach on the Langtang Valley Trek?

Kyanjin Ri is the highest point you can reach on the Langtang Valley Trek (4500m). However, if you wish to extend your Langtang Trek by one night, you may get an even higher height — Tserko Ri (5000m). The beautiful mountains and valleys can be seen from the summit.

What is the starting location for transit from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi?

There are two ways to get to the start of the Langtang Trek. The first option is to rent a four-wheel private jeep that can seat seven passengers. The second alternative is to acquire a local bus ticket from Kathmandu's Machhapokhari.

Travelling by local bus allows you to mingle with locals. However, expect a crowd, local gossip, too many stops, and the possibility to meet new local friends. The travel to the beginning location of the Langtang Trek will take around 7-8 hours.

Private jeep travel is more convenient and pleasant than using the local bus. You'll even go to Syabrubesi swiftly (5-6 hours).

Do we need to purchase travel insurance?

Yes, travel insurance is required to handle unforeseen problems such as bad weather (snow, storms, landslides, and other natural catastrophes), acute mountain sickness (AMS), food poisoning, and physical accidents.

What type of meals and lodging may be obtained on the Langtang Trek?

The Langtang Valley was Nepal's most impacted hiking zone during the 2015 earthquake. Many teahouses were destroyed. However, after a few years, several new teahouses were erected with improved amenities such as a room with an attached bathroom, wifi, a hot shower, and so on.

You may get fresh local food prepared once you place your order. Healthy options include Nepali Dhal Bhat, MoMo, Macaroni, Noodles, Pizza, etc. Also, don't forget to try the 100% Real Yak Cheese at Kyanjin, Langtang village.

Important Reminders: Bring tablets or a filter to save money on drinking water. You may also re-fill the safe drinking water (at your own expense).

When is the greatest time to go on the Langtang Trek?

The greatest times to go on a Langtang Trek are in the spring (March, April, and May) and autumn (September, October, November). The Langtang trip does not need you to go to a high height. As a result, it is also viable to hike in Nepal during the winter season (December, January, and February)

How much does the Langtang Valley Trek cost?

This journey costs USD 600 per person. This price includes everything you need for the hike: a trekking permit, a local bus ticket, food and lodging during the trek, and a guide and porter. If you want to schedule a Langtang Trek in a private vehicle. You must pay an additional fee. In addition, if you are completing this walk alone, you must pay a supplement fee.
